UPDATED: APD SVU Says 18th Street Incident Was NOT a Kidnapping Attempt

Early reports indicate, the suspect was driving a white Lexus and has dreads.

Update: The Atlanta Police Department SVU investigators have determined that the 911 call and report of a possible kidnapping was NOT accurate.

According to Sgt. Lyon, "the incident was not a kidnapping nor was it an attempt.  SVU is still investigating what exactly transpired between the juvenile and the adult but the child was not grabbed or pulled towards a vehicle."

Original Post: According to a 911 call list, around 3 p.m. today a 13 year-old was nearly kidnapped while walking on 18th Street.

The very limited and early report says that a, "black man with dreads, who was driving a white Lexus attempted to put a 13 year-old into his car."

The 911 caller seemed to be made by the victim's cousin or uncle, who reported the car's license plate and the car description.

Since the incident just occurred, we do not have many details back from the Atlanta Police Department.  Midtown Patch will update this story when more becomes available.

At this point Sgt. Lyon was only able to share this:
"(We) Do not have additional details yet. The caller states that someone tried to grab is 13 year old nephew.  He wasn’t taken and officers are trying to determine what occurred."
