APD to Open Path Force Unit Precinct Tuesday

New police precinct will be stationed on the Atlanta BeltLine at the Lofts at Reynoldstown Crossing.

Patch Staff Report

The Atlanta Police Department’s Path Force Unit will move into a new precinct located on the ground floor of the Lofts at Reynoldstown Crossing.

The precinct is stationed on the Atlanta BeltLine and is the final tenant in the development, which includes 28 owner-occupied lofts purchased with down payment assistance from the Atlanta BeltLine affordable housing trust fund.

The Path Force Unit, which launched this past July and consists of 15 officers and three supervisors, is funded by a $1.8 million U.S. Department of Justice COPS grant received in 2012.

The Path Force Unit patrols seven days a week along the three completed trails of the Atlanta BeltLine, the Eastside Trail, West End Trail and the Northside Trail, as well as the interim hiking trails and the nearly complete Southwest Connector Trail. It also patrols adjacent parks including Historic Fourth Ward Park, D.H. Stanton Park, Boulevard Crossing Park and Piedmont Park.

The Lofts at Reynoldstown Crossing is located at 890 Memorial Drive.
