ATM Stolen from BP Gas Station at Ponce de Leon and Piedmont Road

Midtown Patch has been able to confirm from the Atlanta Police Department that an ATM was taken from the BP gas station located on the corner of Piedmont Road and Ponce de Leon Ave.

According to early reports, confirmed by Officer Kim Jones, an alarm went off inside the store at about 4:30 a.m.
The responding officer said, "Upon arrival I noticed that the front door was open slightly and that the lock had been broken, and I also noticed that parts from the stations ATM were broken on the ground just outside the door."

Officer Moline reports that after he cleared the building and saw that the ATM machine was missing, he was, "flagged down by the security guard across the street, who advised me that a red GMC or Chevrolet extended cab truck sped off from the location around 04:32 a.m."

The security guard said he was unable to see who was inside the fleeing car.

There was a surveillance tape taken by investigators, and a call was made to the ATM company to see how much money was in the machine at the time.

The 11Alive attached video shows investigators at the scene of the crime.

Midtown Patch expects the video surveillance footage to be released later today if the APD is unable to identify the suspects themselves.
