Contributions sought in memory of Officer Thomas

"Officer Gail Thomas, our Midtown neighborhood remembers you and honors you for your service to Atlanta as a police officer and we mourn your loss on January 24th protecting our communities in Zone 5.'' - statement from the Midtown Neighbors' Association

The Midtown Neighbors’ Association (MNA) has set up a contribution page where people can donate financially to Atlanta Police Department Senior Officer Gail Thomas’ family.

Thomas was killed Jan. 24 when she was struck by an alleged drunk driver, while assisting another officer during a single car accident on the ramp to I-85 north from I-75 south. From the MNA’s website:

“Officer Gail Thomas, our Midtown neighborhood remembers you and honors you for your service to Atlanta as a police officer and we mourn your loss on January 24th protecting our communities in Zone 5. You gave the ultimate sacrifice standing strong for all of us. We can never repay what you have given to our neighborhood, but we will do our best to walk in your path and make a difference in our world. There is no way we can express our deepest gratitude, but our neighborhood is joining together to make sure your daughter is taken care of as you have taken care of us. With love, hope, gratefulness and admiration, we stand behind you and your service.’’
