Would-be thieves smash stolen vehicle through westside restaurant

Suspects repeatedly attempted to run over the ATM inside the West Midtown Corner Tavern before neighbors made noises, prompting the three men to flee the scene on foot without stealing anything.

Less than a month after a Midtown package store was victimized when thieves utilized a vehicle to conduct a destructive smash-and-grab, a westside restaurant suffered a similar fate on Tuesday morning.

Around 6:45 a.m., Atlanta police responded to a call at the West Midtown Corner Tavern after would-be thieves smashed a stolen dark sedan through the front door of the eatery located at 1133 Huff Road.

The suspects repeatedly attempted to run over the ATM in the restaurant before neighbors made noises, prompting the three black male suspects to flee the scene on foot without stealing anything.

The restaurant was open for business by lunchtime after significant cleanup and repair work. In the surveillance video accompanying this story, the vehicle smashes through the restaurant around the 42-second mark
