Early Morning Fire Damages J.R. Crickets on Spring Street

Christmas Eve took a dangerous twist at the longtime Midtown establishment, J.R. Crickets, early Tuesday morning as a fire was reported in the building.

Reports indicate that the fire began around 4:30 a.m. and that the most extensive damage was in the apartment right above the restaurant.

No injuries were reported, but the upstairs apartment was "gutted by flames," according to WSB.com, while the restaurant received water and smoke damage.

It is not clear when the restaurant that originally opened in 1982 will re-open.
