UPDATED: Fatal 1-Car Accident Reported on Monroe Drive

UPDATE: The Atlanta Police have released a statement in regards to the fatal wreck.  According to Officer John Chafee, "On 4-22-2013 around 5:15pm officers responded to a one vehicle accident on Monroe Dr near Hillpine Dr."  Chafee goes on to say, "the preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling south on Monroe Dr when it appears that the driver lost control and struck a utility pole beside the road. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and died at the scene." 
The Atlanta Police Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene and are attempting to determine what occurred and what factors may have played a role in the accident.

Early reports are surfacing about a fatal car accident that occurred Monday during afternoon rush-hour at Hillpine Drive and Monroe Drive.

As of 7 p.m., Monday evening, Atlanta Police Investigators were still processing the scene.

11Alive is reporting that, "one man is dead," following the accident.
