Police are investigating a late Friday morning shooting that has left a Fulton County assistant district attorney in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.

April McConnell and an unidentified man were shot while inside a vehicle parked in the 2300 block of Fairway Circle in southwest Atlanta around 11 a.m.

The man was shot in the jaw, but his condition was not as critical as the 31-year-old Emory University Law School graduate who has recently been working on the Atlanta Public Schools test-cheating case.

The suspect in the shooting is believed to be McConnell’s husband, Tranard McConnell, whom she filed for divorce from earlier this week.

WSB TV reported just after 4:30 p.m. that the suspect has been found dead in south Fulton County.
