Homeowners Carjacked at Gunpoint Outside their 9th Street Home

Midtown Patch has just secured the police report from a Monday evening carjacking/home invasion that occurred in the 300 block of 9th Street in Midtown.

According to the report the responding APD officer arrived to find 2 victims who informed them that they were just held at gunpoint at roughly 8 p.m.  The victim told the officer that, "he was in his driveway taking out the trash when he was approached by a black male, 18-25 years of age, 5'10", 130-140lbs, and armed with a silver in color small caliber pistol."

The homeowner states that the suspect approached him from the street, while pointing the handgun in his direction.  Once onto the driveway, the victim says that the suspect then demanded the keys to his vehicle, "a silver 2011 Mercedes E350A."

Due to the victim not having his keys with him, he told the suspect they were inside, and the suspect forced him to his front door to retrieve the keys.  Quick thinking led to the victim to use the chance to run to a downstairs bedroom and lock himself in.  Unfortunately there was another person home, who now was face to face with the gun-toting suspect.

From here the 2nd victim advised APD that the male was now standing in the entry way of the home and pointing the gun at him. He stated, "the male demanded the keys to the Mercedes and after the male had the keys he fled the home."

The second victim says that the suspect then, "pushed open the gate that blocked the driveway with his hands and then left the scene in the Mercedes striking the trash can, gate, and flower pot."

As a result of the collision, the Mercedes received damage to both the driver side and passenger side. The driver side mirror was also knocked off and left in the driveway.

The suspect was last seen in the silver e-class Mercedes traveling Eastbound on 9th St NE.  Officers have reported that there is a home surveillance camera on the property that caught the incident on tape, and are hoping it will lead to the suspect. APD was also able to pull a print from the scene.

Both of the victims were fortunate not to receive any physical injuries as a result of the incident.
