Hopeful Words for Paralyzed Victim of Midtown Shooting

The 23-year-old woman is recovering from a spinal cord injury at the Shepherd Center.

Lauren Garcia, the 23-year-old woman wounded during the recent shooting at a , has received an outpouring of support on Facebook as she recovers from a spinal cord injury.

Garcia, who was shot in the back during the July 15 attack on Crescent Avenue, was transferred to the Shepherd Center in Buckhead last week. The hospital specializes in spinal cord and brain injuries.

Channel 2  that the injury left Garcia paralyzed.

Garcia was one of three women shot at the parking garage of the Proscenium building in Midtown.

Police say Nkosi Thandiwe, a 22-year-old security guard at the building, is responsible for the attack that killed one of the women.

Thandiwe is charged with murder in the death of Brittney Watts, 26, and two counts of aggravated assault in the shootings of Garcia and Tiffany Ferenczy, 24. 

The Facebook page “Thoughts and Prayers for Lauren Garcia” says flowers and cards can be sent to the Shepherd Center at 2020 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30309.
