Lenox Road Resident Reports Truck Theft, Loss of Smartphone

The following information was supplied by the Atlanta police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Lenox Road resident called 911 to report a carjacking on Cheshire Bridge Road at at 3:40 p.m. Thursday from the Citgo gas station.

The victim told Atlanta police that he had met two men while walking his pit bull. During a converstation about his dog with the two men, he said he gave out his phone number to one of them men who said he wanted to buy a dog. After he got back home, the Lenox Road resident said that man called him.

A short while later, he was driving his 2000 Dodge Ram Truck on Lenox Road toward Lenox and Cheshire Bridge Road when he said the two men he had met while walking his dog flagged him down for a ride to the gas station.

Once they arrived at the gas station, the victim said one of them men pulled out a black handgun. He quickly jumped out of the truck and one of the two men hopped into the driver's seat and drove off.

The victim then called 911 to report the truck theft and the theft of his Samsung Galaxy 4, which was still in the truck when he jumped out.

When an officer arrived, the checked the truck's registration and discovered it was still registered to the person who apparently was the previous owner. The truck couldn't be reported as stolen until this issue was fixed.

The victim couldn't be reached by telephone later on Thursday by the reporting officer..
