Liquor store theft prevented, suspect hops train to get away

Suspects flee, but fail to get their "Henny" after sledgehammering through a two-foot thick brick wall

Atlanta police are seeking two burglars who were prevented from making off with approximately $10,000 worth of Patron, Hennessy, and Ciroc Vodka Thursday morning from the westside’s Bim’s Package Store.

Officer responding to an audible alarm observed two unidentified black males loading a Ford Expedition with approximately 24 cases of liquor from the 1015 W. Marietta St. store.

The burglars used a sledgehammer to break into the side of the building, which appeared to be an approximately two-foot thick brick wall.

According to police, one of the suspects fled by jumping down a 10-foot wall down to the railroad tracks that run east and west behind the business. With the officer in pursuit, the man jumped on a train that was headed east into downtown just by happenstance.

The other suspect was last seen running west behind the business and then out on to W. Marietta. Neither suspect was captured the vehicle was left behind by the suspects and is being checked to see if it is stolen.

Store owner Bee Mihrtab told CBS Atlanta, “They worked all night to do that," later adding, “luckily, we're okay; we got all our stuff back."
