(UPDATED) Man Hit by Multiple Vehicles, Killed on Downtown Connector

Man reportedly was on the left shoulder of the southbound lanes on I-75/85 and attempted to cross the southbound lanes on Tuesday night.

Atlanta police announced late Wednesday afternoon that charges against Watts have been dropped.

Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1 p.m.:

Atlanta police have made an arrest in connection with the pedestrian struck and killed overnight on the Downtown Connector.

Lee Watts has been charged with driving with an expired license and second degree vehicular homicide.

The investigation is ongoing.

According to Atlanta police, a man was struck by several vehicles and killed late Tuesday night on I-75/85 at Williams Street.

Officer John Chafee wrote in an email that the preliminary investigation indicates the man was on the left shoulder of the southbound lanes on I-75/85 and attempted to cross the southbound lanes at approximately 10 p.m.

The man, whose name has not been released, died on scene.

Two vehicles stopped and remained on scene. According to Chafee, at this time the investigation continues and charges are possible.

The accident temporarily blocked all southbound lanes in the area.
