Man in critical condition after early morning shooting near Midtown

Victim reportedly shot twice while returning to vehicle parked in apartment complex off North Avenue.

A 22-year-old man is reportedly in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital after being attacked and shot in a parking lot near Midtown early Thursday morning.

According to Atlanta Police spokesperson Kim Jones, at around 12:40 a.m. two men were looking for their car parked at the Cityscape at Midtown apartments when they were approached by two men. During what authorities say was a robbery attempt, the victim was shot once in the upper chest and once in the left arm.

The other man was not injured and neither man lived at the apartments, which are located at 300 Cityline Avenue near the intersection of North Avenue and Central Park.

It is not known whether or not anything was taken during the crime. According to police, witnesses reported seeing two black males fleeing from the scene after the shots were fired.
