UPDATE: Man Rescued from MARTA Train Tracks

Contrary to previous reports, the man was never struck by a train.

UPDATE (8:50 p.m.): A man who fell onto the tracks at MARTA'S Civic Center station is recovering from his ordeal at Grady Memorial Hospital, FOX 5 News reports.

According to FOX 5's Trevor Shirley, the man who fell onto the tracks was never actually hit by an oncoming train. Passengers on the platform managed to alert the train in time and it stopped short of the man.

The man was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

UPDATE (7:49 p.m.): 
MARTA has released the following statement:

Due to a problem at Civic Center we are experiencing delays in north and southbound red and gold lines. Single tracking at Five Point/Peachtree/Civic Center Stations.

UPDATE (7:41 p.m.): 
FOX 5 News now reports that a suspected visually impaired man that fell down to the train tracks at the Civic Center MARTA station and was subsequently struck by a train is still alive.

The man is currently under the front of the train and is awaiting rescue. The extent of the man's injuries are not clear at this point.

ORIGINAL STORY (7:35 p.m.): 
Atlanta Fire Rescue crews are at MARTA's Civic Center station attempting to rescue a man who is trapped beneath a train, FOX 5 News reports.

According to the news outlet's Twitter account, the visually impaired man apparently fell onto the tracks and then was pinned by a train. 

All service from Civic Center to nearby stations has been suspended until this situation is resolved. Passengers are being shuttled from Civic Center to Peacthree Center and North Avenue stations due to the situation.
