Mayor, Police Chief to Hold Forum on Atlanta Eagle Raid

Meeting to be held in Midtown.

Another public forum will be held Sept. 28 to discuss the 2009 raid of Midtown gay bar .

A gay and lesbian advisory group with the Atlanta Police Department will host the meeting at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 781 Peachtree Street. 

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Police Chief George Turner will address concerns about the outcome of the Atlanta Eagle raid, according to Project Q Atlanta

"Chief Turner and some of his leadership will be there at the request of the LGBT Advisory Board, and are working cooperatively with them on a number of issues of importance to the community," Carlos Campos, public information officer for the Atlanta Police Department, said Friday in an email. 

"We want to listen to any concerns expressed, as well as attempt to answer any questions we can. We look forward to our participation at this important event."

Six Atlanta police officers were for lying about what happened during the raid and several others were disciplined. Many people feel the punishment was not severe enough. During a , several community members called for more police officers to be fired.
