Metro Atlanta as a whole ranks sixth among the most dangerous cities. Atlanta has increasingly become perceived as a drug trafficking hub.

Crime is always a concern for people living in and around a large city. How safe do you feel in Atlanta? According to the 2012 list of America's most dangerous cities run in Forbes Magazine and reported by the FBI's Uniform Crime database, Atlanta's crime rate puts it high on a list of cities with the most crime in the nation.

1. Detroit with 2,137 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

2. St. Louis with 1,857 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

3. Oakland with 1,683 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

4. Memphis with 1,583 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

5. Birmingham with 1,483 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

6. Atlanta with 1,433 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

7. Baltimore with 1,417 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

8. Stockton, Calif. with 1,408 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

9. Cleveland with 1,363 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

10. Buffalo with 1,238 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.
