Midtown Bike Shop Hit By Theft

Perpetrator(s) reportedly threw a brick through a window to gain entrance.

, a Midtown landmark for more than three decades outside the 12th Street entrance to Piedmont Park, is a full service skate and bicycle shop that proudly, “Lets the Good Times Roll!’’

Sometime after closing Tuesday night, the bad times rolled out the window in the form of a stolen 2012 Masi Evoluzione bicycle that is worth in excess of $3,000 when purchased new.

According to Atlanta Police, a next-door neighbor of the shop located at 1086 Piedmont Avenue noticed shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday that a window had been shattered at the establishment. A subsequent survey by owner Bob Orlowski concluded that the bike had been lifted.

“They threw a brick through the top window,’’ said Orlowski, who remarked that it was the first time in several years that his shop had been victimized by theft. “Most of the windows have three security bars, but that was up high and had just one bar. It was at the top and they finagled the bike through.”

No arrests have been made in the case.
