More Car Break-Ins at Idlewood Acres

Cars in one driveway have been ransacked three times in the last month.

A single mother with two children in Tucker's Idlewood Acres neighborhood is reporting that thieves have broken into cars in her driveway for the third time in the past month.

"My boyfriend's car was pulled apart last night by what seems to be the same people who went through both of our cars twice within two weeks, a month ago,' Gina Edmonds told Tucker Patch.

"A month ago, his new IPOD I gave him was taken; however, they opted not to take my old one," she said.

Patch reported on a slew of car break-ins last month in various Idlewood Neighborhoods. The thieves seemed particularly interested in electronic devices, as they do in these cases.

Edmonds reports that her neighbor witnessed an attack a month ago. "He walked out right as they bashed his car window in, grabbed and ran. Police apparently caught (one of them) two nights later going through a car and arrested him."

She said she spends most nights home alone. "I am not feeling safe in my own house. They are coming all the way down the driveway into the dark area by my home."

Local police have been alerted again. Edmonds spoke to an officer at the Tucker Precinct today (Sept. 27) but said it was a "very frustrating phone call" and that the officer was "condescending."

"Her advice was to lock your car," Edmonds said. "That worked real well for my neighbor who had his window bashed in. I get what she's saying, but my point is the safety issue with someone coming down right beside my house while I am sleeping."

Edmonds wants signs posted in the neighborhood "to let everyone know." She added, "I'm just another person in Idlewood Acres who is really tired of this."

I also live in a neighborhood in Tucker with a high crime rate. I have security cameras and lights all around. I have not been a recent victim of crime but, see it all around me. I am from Tucker and have tried to be proactive about crime in my area by contacting police and my county commissioner. I have been told that possibly, I should move. That is not a luxury I have as, I own my home and plan to stay here. What is the solution? I have tried neighborhood watch but most of my neighbors are renting Fannie Mae foreclosures and do not want to get involved. After 40 years in Tucker I am wondering about the future of our whole community.

My boyfriend's ipod was taken the first time, not the second or third because my car was locked, as was my neighbor's who's window was smashed in. Fishy? Really? Try annoyed.

We have had someone going into unlocked cars and stealing the loose change that was in the coin holder. 2 weeks ago we had two males knocking on doors and asking if they could cut grass. No lawnmower in trunk and one homeowner said when they answered the door the guy leaned in to scope out the house. Do not open the door if you do not know them, and take the change out of your car.
