MPSA Says Community Continues to be Victimized by Peachtree-Pine Criminals

The Midtown Ponce Security Alliance, whose mission it is to keep the surrounding communities safe and knowledgeable has a new update on its site about recent Peachtree-Pine area crime incidents.  Peachtree - Pine is a homeless shelter off of Peachtree on the cusp of Downtown and Midtown which men are always hanging out and awaiting food and shelter, but also where many drug dealers hang out.

The following is an excerpt from the MPSA article which highlights one of the recent crimes.

COMMUNITY CONTINUES TO BE VICTIMIZED BY PEACHTREE-PINE CRIMINALS

Remember the taxi driver lured to the Peachtree-Pine "shelter" and robbed, and the other situation when another person was stabbed outside of the building? One of our APD contacts shared another story today about that place, and pointed out that this suspect is a regular at Peachtree-Pine. This example adds to the many we hear about "the shelter"  on a regular basis.

[Report edited to redact name of victim] On Friday, November 15, 2013, an APD patrol officer witnessed an attempted larceny at 550 Peachtree St. while working a traffic accident scene at that location. The victim had cleaned out her belongings from her undriveable vehicle so the tow company could pick it up and placed the following items on the sidewalk in between her feet so she could sign the citation: a bag containing an Apple IPad valued at $750.00, a purse containing an iPhone 4 valued at $300.00, a dog bed, a bag containing other miscellaneous work papers. As the victim was signing the ticket, the arrestee, later identified as Mr. Frank A. McMillan, ran up in between [Victim] and and the police and picked up all of her items in his arms and attempted to flee. The officer promptly arrested Mr. McMillan and placed him in custody. All items were returned to Ms. Victim intact. Mr. McMillan was charged with Theft by Taking 16-8-2. [Note: mugshot posted at web version of this post]
