Fulton Co. officer hospitalized after Northside Dr. crash

The Atlanta Police Department has confirmed that a Fulton County Detention officer is hospitalized at Grady after a head-on collision while driving on Northside Drive near Peters Street.

According to APD Officer Kim Jones, Zone 1 responded to the scene of the accident at approximately 6:30 a.m, Monday morning.  She told Midtown Patch that the, "preliminary investigation reveals that the driver of a black Chevy Impala traveling south bound on Northside Dr. drifted over into the north bound lane and struck a white vehicle then struck another vehicle (silver Toyota) head-on."

APD confirms that the driver of the silver Toyota is a Fulton County Detention Officer.  "She had to be extricated from her vehicle and was transported to Grady Hospital with leg injuries ," said Jones.

The latest report indicates that the driver of the Chevy Impala, that swerved into oncoming traffic, was transported to Grady in critical condition.

The Fulton County Detention Officer was also transported to the hospital, and was said to be, "conscious, alert and breathing."
