According to Sgt. Gregory Lyon, a 16 year-old girl is now safe after being attacked early Tuesday morning on her way to the bus stop on Piedmont Road.
"A 16 year old female was waiting for the
school bus when she was assaulted by an unknown adult male. He grabbed
her and tried to throw her to the ground," said Lyon.
The woman was able to run for her life into the Pep Boys location on Piedmont, where she screamed to the manager about the encounter.
Sgt. Lyon told Midtown Patch that, "she fled to a nearby Pep Boys and informed
the manager of what happened. He (the manager) searched for, found, and held the
suspect down until police arrived."
The female victim suffered from minor abrasions, and the suspect is currently in custody. Atlanta Police has identified the suspect as Tansu Kanlica, age 27, white male, charged with Misdemeanor Battery at the moment.
