Police Name Replacement for Unit that Raided Atlanta Eagle bar

The Red Dog Unit of the Atlanta Police Department is being replaced by a new tactical unit.

The Atlanta Police Department has selected a replacement for the Red Dog Unit, the police unit that raided the  bar in 2009, according to the Ramage Report.

According to a report from Stephanie Ramage, the new unit will be called APEX, which stands for Atlanta Proactive Enforcement & Interdiction. 

Police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones confirmed the name had changed. She said police will hold an event to formerly announce the new unit, but that she didn't have a date yet.

Police that the Red Dog Unit would be disbanded and replaced. The new unit "will be a highly-trained, competent force,” Police Chief George Turner said in February.
