Armed Robbery, Carjacking at Lounge Probed

Suspect had AK-47, police say

Atlanta police are investigating an armed robbery and carjacking at a lounge west of Midtown early Saturday morning in which one of the suspects had what appeared to be an AK-47 rifle.

Police spokesman Curtis Davenport said two men left the 595 North Avenue event venue and lounge when they were confronted in the parking lot by a pair of robbers, who were dressed in black.

The suspect with the AK-47 ordered the victims to the ground, and the other suspect went through their pockets and took their belongings. The suspects then took off in the victims' vehicle, a green 2005 Chevrolet Malibu with a paper tag in the left rear window, Davenport said.
