Robbery Victim Reportedly Shot at in Midtown

Four male suspects believed to be involved in pair of overnight armed crimes in Midtown.

Atlanta police say a group of armed men robbed victims, shooting at one, during a pair of early Wednesday morning incidents in Midtown.

According to Officer Kim Jones, the first incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. near the intersection of 7th and West Peachtree streets. A male victim said he was in his vehicle preparing to leave the area when a white sedan pulled up and prevented him from leaving.

The man said three black males emerged from the vehicle, with one producing a handgun and attempting to open the victim’s driver’s side door, which was locked. After the suspect demanded the victim to open the door and he hesitated, the armed male attempted to fire the weapon but it jammed.

At this point according to Jones, the driver of the sedan got out of the vehicle and helped the armed man clear the jam. He then fired one round through the driver’s side window, which struck the steering wheel, ricocheted and hit the shifter, and finally came to rest in the door of the vehicle.

The victim stated that he then threw his chain and $220 out of the window, which the suspects collected and then departed in their vehicle. A man who lived on 7th Street later told police he had heard the commotion and gunshot.

A short time later, what is believed to be the same white sedan pulled up next to a man and woman who were near their vehicle in the 800 block of Spring Street. Again, three black males exited the car with one pointing a handgun and demanding the man and woman’s belongings.

They suspect’s took the woman’s purse, and then sped off with the man and woman giving chase in the man’s car. The chase ended near the intersection of Pryor Road and Dodd Street and there responding officer’s located the white sedan in question with all four doors open.

There were no arrests made and the investigation continues.
