Shine a Light on Safety

Grab your flashlight and join neighbors as they walk the streets to deter crime.

Do your part to control crime in the neighborhood.

On Nov. 16, join Midtown residents and an Atlanta police officer for a two-hour flashlight walk around the neighborhood.

"Midtown will not stand for crime in our neighborhood!" says the Midtown Neighbors' Association who is organizing the walk.

The event will be held from 9 to 11 p.m. Neighbors will meet up at on Argonne Avenue.

Here's how you solve the problem of crime in Midtown: 1. Exercise your right to own a gun. 2. Learn to USE said gun. 3. Fight back. Or, just sit back and be a victim, it's up to you. That it all.

Oh, this is smart. Let's all get together for one night, wander around with flashlights, and let's publicize this. I'm sure it'll be really effective.

No amount of safety meetings, walks or anything will make a bit of a difference until to projects on Boulevard are torn down.

Lars............brilliant solution. I agree wholeheartedly and have practised that for years now.

Urbanist's helpful constructive comments aside, these type of meetings and walks can and do make a difference. Neighbors meet each other, talk about what to look out for, discuss ideas such as trimming shrubs, turning on porch lights, who the area police officers are, joining the MNA and MPSA, discuss ideas on protection such as Lars suggests...lots of god ideas and actions.
