APD: Son Sets Fire to Family Home off Northside Drive After Argument with Dad

Kim Jones with the Atlanta Police Department's Public Affairs unit informed Midtown Patch that a family is safe after having to flee from their burning home on Greystone Road around 3 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

According to Officer Jones, "on today's date, approximately 2:52 am, units responded to the disturbance and while en route, the call was upgraded to a fire call. The preliminary investigation revealed that the homeowner had a disagreement with his son."

The police say that the father, "ordered his son out of the house," at some point in the evening.  The son eventually returned home, but angry and seeking some sort of revenge.

Upon arrival, police say, "the son forced entry into the house and used an accelerant to ignite the fire inside his father’s home. Once on fire, the son fled the scene."

Fire crews managed to put out the fire quickly, but not before the rear of the house sustained significant damage.

The Atlanta Police Department has not released the name or description of the son, but have said he faces several charges once apprehended.  The father was transported to Grady Hospital with a cut to his hand following the struggle with his son.
