The stolen car suspects led police on a high speed chase ending on Holmes Street.

According to the Atlanta Police Public Affairs department, a stolen SUV crashed into as many as 6 parked cars and finally into a house on Holmes Street NW, during the early morning hours on Tuesday, May 29th.

Reports indicate that a gray SUV, matching the description of a reported stolen car, was spotted driving in the area around 2 a.m. without its headlights on. When an officer tried to pull them over, they took the officers on a high-speed chase.

Officer Kim Jones told Midtown Patch, "approximately 2:07 am, a Zone Two unit noticed the suspect’s vehicle driving in a reckless manner without headlights while heading east on Chattahoochee Ave. The officer initiated his emergency equipment and the vehicle began to flee."

According to the police department, the responding officers called off the chase due to the high speeds the suspects reached while going through residential areas.

APD says that, "the preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle had been taken within the hour from Noble Creek Drive in Zone Two."

APD was able to arrest the suspect after he crashed the stolen vehicle into 6 parked cars and seemingly flipped the car into a house on Holmes Street.  Officer Jones told Patch that, "the suspect’s vehicle appeared to have crossed over a speed breaker at a very high rate of speed, and once airborne, the suspect’s vehicle struck five other cars and also struck and damaged a house."

Residents in the area told the AJC that they came out their houses and saw that the car, “was smoking in the front yard. We couldn’t even tell it was a car.”

The AJC has a number of photos showing the extensive damage to both the parked cars and the house that was struck.

The driver/suspect was taken to the hospital with only minor injuries.
