Surveillance Footage of ATM Robbery at Atlantic Station

Brazen ATM theft right at Atlantic Station.

The Atlanta Police Department has released surveillance footage from a recent ATM robbery in Atlantic Station, at The Atlantic building.

According to the police report the crime happened on July 3rd, and involved 2 black males calmly rolling an ATM from 270 17th Street into a white van.  A woman who works as a concierge in the building and was just entering work told the responding officers that she, "noticed a large white van parked by the entrance of parking deck leading to the main lobby, and saw two males loading something heavy in a van."

The witness says just as she was questioning the other On-Duty concierge about the van and why it was parked in the wrong place, "a man came through and asked what had happened to the ATM."

Police officers and the building security reviewed their surveillance footage and it revealed that 2 suspects walked into the building, picked up the ATM and then loaded it a white or silver minivan and drove away.

Suspect Descriptions:
1) BLACK MALE WITH A MEDIUM COMPLEXION AND AVERAGE BUILD. HE WAS WEARING AWHITE HOODIE, BLACK SKULL CAP, DARK PANTS, WHITE SNEAKERS AND BLUE LATEX/RUBBER GLOVES.

2) BLACK MALE WITH A MEDIUM COMPLEXION AND AVERAGE BUILD. HE WAS WEARING A BROWN T-SHIRT, BLUE JEANS, BLACK AND SNEAKERS, AND A BABY BLUE BASEBALL CAP.

Officer Voorheis, who took the initial call and wrote the police report, wrote that it seems the driver had a "transponder" or door key that allowed him entrance into the parking garage.  He writes, "it should be noted that the concierge is only supposed to let someone into the parking deck if they request a room number and a specific name."  Officer Voorheis goes on to write that, "while reviewing the surveillance cameras, the suspect vehicle did not use the main exit to leave, meaning he must have used a transponder to exit the parking deck."

The amount of money inside the ATM was not released to the public.

The van used in this case was located on July 6th in southwest Atlanta, in-front of a house with its engine still running.  Once police were able to enter the vehicle they found an ATM laying inside of it.  Due to a recent humber of ATM thefts in the metro area, it was not clear which ATM this was exactly, but later confirmed that this car and ATM were part of the Atlantic Station theft.  Police say they had a few fingerprints, but did not say if they believe they are of the suspects or not.

Any information on the case can be submitted anonymously to the Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line at 404-577-TIPS (8477), online www.crimestoppersatlanta.org or by texting CSA and the tip to CRIMES (274637). Persons do not have to give their name or any identifying information to be eligible for the reward of up to $2,000 for the arrest and indictment of the suspects.
