A Georgia Tech student was robbed at gunpoint Thursday.
Around 11:30 a.m., the student was walking near Center and Calhoun streets in the Home Park neighborhood when he was approached by a male who pointed a black handgun at him and demanded his backpack, according to a crime alert from the Georgia Tech police.
The student handed over his backpack and the suspect fled.

Atlanta police are investigating the incident.
The suspect is described as a black male about 25 years old, who is 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a white shirt and black pants.
