Ten Injured in World Congress Center Stampede

A fight at a car show caused a rush for the exits, authorities say.

An altercation at a car and bike show held at the Georgia World Congress Center caused a rush for the exits that turned into a stampede, injuring ten people Sunday night.

At roughly 8 p.m., a fight at the V103 Car and Bike Show got out of hand, causing the thousands of people attending the event to try to leave the area. According to WSB-TV, people were injured in the rush to escape the fracas.

Initial reports claimed that gunshots had been fired, but further investigation revealed no gunshot wounds on any of the injured, nor any other evidence of firearms being discharged.

Officials with the Georgia World Congress Center are continuing to investigate who and what started the fight.

Some 30,000 people spend part of their Sunday at the World Congress Center to take in the show, those same officials said.
