Two Arrests Made in Series of Taxicab Robberies

Atlanta and DeKalb police still looking for third suspect.

Police arrested two men Wednesday in connection with a series of robberies, carjackings and attacks on cab drivers. 

The two men face charges including armed robbery, kidnapping and aggravated assault, Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos announced Wednesday. 

The men -- who haven't been identified yet -- are in custody at Fulton County Jail, FOX 5 reports

At least nine cab drivers were robbed in Atlanta and DeKalb over the holiday weekend. Two incidents were in Atlanta; seven in DeKalb. The two departments are working together on the case. 

One incident Saturday afternoon, a taxi driver was  by three men he picked up at a downtown hotel. The three attackers left the cabbie at Northside Drive and North Avenue.

"The suspects have pretended to be legitimate fares, often summoning cabs from the same general area in the city," Campos said. "Instead, they have robbed and beaten cab drivers, and in some cases taken their vehicles."

FOX 5 says some victims were pistol-whipped. 

Police still are on the lookout for a third suspect. Stills from surveillance video near one of the crime scenes helped identify the two men arrested Wednesday.
