Week 12 APD Crime Report - Zone 5

As the Atlanta Police gears up for one of the busiest weekends of the year in the city, check out the Week 12 crime report to see the trends and avoid being a victim.

Atlanta Police's Zone 5 Week 12 crime report, which covered from Sunday 03/17/13 to Saturday 03/23/13, was recently released and showed that the Midtown zone had no murders, rapes or shootings within that period. However, according to the report, Midtown has recorded over 100 separate incidents, mostly larcenies from cars.

The report also shows that the number of total incidents, 105, is roughly the same as was committed last year at this time which was 109. Zone 5 officers recorded 9 arrests from these Part 1 offenses.

The break down of the 105 incidents during this week in late March was as follows:

Zone 5, Week 5 (3/17-3/23) (Covers Downtown and Midtown Atlanta)

  • Murder = 0
  • Rape = 0
  • Robbery = 5
  • Agg. Assault = 4
  • Burglary = 5
  • Larceny (from auto) = 45
  • Larceny (other) = 34
  • Auto Theft = 12
  • Total Arrests = 9

During the NCAA Final Four weekend, Chief Turner has said that officers will be patrolling on foot, car and on horses. "We are expecting over 100,000 people into the City of Atlanta everyday," Chief Turner said in a press conference.  According to CBS Atlanta, "Atlanta Police officers will work 12 hour shifts this weekend and there will be some 800 officers on the street at all times."
