Westside Carjacking: 8 Armed Men Rob Victim

A nearby RaceTrac gas station was also robbed during the predawn hours on Saturday.

Atlanta police report that a Stone Mountain man was carjacked on Atlanta’s westside early Saturday morning by eight suspects all brandishing handguns.

According to Officer Kim Jones, the incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. in a parking deck of an apartment complex located in the 1000 block of Huff Road off Howell Mill Road.

The victim told responding officers that he noticed a Champagne-colored Chrysler Van behind him as he drove into the parking deck. The van reportedly turned around and after the victim exited his vehicle, eight black men, all armed with handguns, emerged from the van and approached the man.

In a separate Saturday predawn incident not far away, a RaceTrac gas station was robbed at approximately 5:30 a.m.

According to the police narrative, two black males entered the store located at 2325 Marietta Boulevard near the five-way intersection at Bolton Road. At least one of them was armed with a silver handgun. After demanding money from the cash register, the two men fled in an unknown direction with about $200.

The employee was unable to give police a detailed description of the suspects.

The investigation into both incidents continues.
