Woman Robbed at Gunpoint on Charles Allen Drive While Walking Dog

Midtown Patch first learned about a robbery late Monday evening along Charles Allen Drive near 7th Street, from a reader and resident in the area that wanted to warn other residents in the immediate area.

A resident in the area sent us a picture of a handwritten note left on the front door of an apartment building on Charles Allen Drive stating, "I just got robbed at gunpoint in-front of this building by an African American male in a '90's SUV...Be careful out there."

The Atlanta Police Department has since confirmed the incident and said that, "at 10:33pm, Officer Ross was dispatched to a armed robbery call that occurred at the intersection of 8th St. and Charles Allen Dr.  Upon arrival the victim stated that she had just been robbed."

The female victim told the responding officer that she was out walking her dog northward on Charles Allen towards Piedmont Park.  According to APD, "once she reached Piedmont Park she turned around and began to return home. She stated that she was on her iPhone 4 when she reached Charles Allen Dr and 8th St a green SUV being driven by a black male stopped next to her at the intersection."

It was at the intersection when a different male exited the passenger side of the car and approached her, demanding her cell phone according to APD.

Police officers say that, "she looked down and saw a gun and handed the suspect her cell phone. (The victim) stated the suspect told her to begin walking down 8th St. and she told the suspect that she would walk down Charles Allen towards her home and did so. (The victim) stated that the SUV proceeded south on Charles Allen Dr."
