Woman Robbed Attempting to Enter Westside Homeless Shelter

Victim reportedly hits one of the perpetrators across the head before relinquishing her purse.

Atlanta police say gun-wielding suspects robbed a woman who was attempting to enter her homeless shelter residence on Atlanta’s westside early Wednesday morning.

But not before one of them got walloped across the head first.

According to Officer Kim Jones, at around 1:20 a.m., the 29-year-old woman was outside the Atlanta Union Mission’s My Sister’s House located at 921 Howell Mill Road. While she was buzzing to be allowed in, a dark green van pulled out of the church parking lot across the street.

One male emerged from the vehicle and stated, “what’s up? Give it up.” At this point, the woman told responding officers that she hit the man across the head, knocking his black cap off his head.

Another male then exited the van and proceeded to point a small silver handgun at her. She then relinquished her purse and continued to buzz the shelter’s gate for entrance.

The males, both described as brown skinned, slim, standing no taller than 5-foot-7 and around 17 years of age, left in the van heading north on Image Avenue. A partial Georgia tag number of BZN was described to police.

There were no injuries reported.
