The Novare Group and the Batson-Cook Development Company have made it official in stating they will begin next month to build a 23-story 320-unit luxury apartment tower in Midtown known as 100 6th Street.
The $63 million mixed-use project will stand behind the existing 36-story Viewpoint condo tower and five percent of its units will be offered as affordable housing.
The city’s economic development arm, Invest Atlanta, announced late this week the approval of tax abatements worth about $3 million for the project that is expected to be completed by late 2013.
Novare President Jim Borders said he hopes the affordable component of the apartment tower would be enticing to police officers, firefighters, and educators.
Invest Atlanta’s Brian McGowan told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that 100 6th Street is “a great public-private partnership supporting job creation, providing affordable housing and bringing incremental property tax revenue to the city.”
Not far away, Novare and Batson-Cook have almost completed SkyHouse Midtown after breaking ground on the mixed-use project in January of this year.
The 23-story 320-unit apartment building at the corner of West Peachtree and 12th streets will feature studio, 1 and 2 bedroom apartment homes topped by an amenity deck 230 feet above street level.
And not far away, Daniel Corporation and Selig Enterprises are in the process of delivering 77 12th, a 22-story, 330-unit apartment tower. It’s Phase III of the 12th and Midtown development.
I hope you realize that I was serious about the mentality and other aspects of your contributors of late. Tim is right ... How about some real conversation and real substance.
My last comment was just that a comment, and an observation. It was not meant to critique you ,or your editing responsibilities. I was just pointing out that I have observed this behavior . You did indeed respond properly and promptly and I stand corrected . I appreciate all you do.
I know Tyrell and Shaniqua. What did Tyrell and Shaniqua do to you? You obviously have some racist notion that caused you to refer to predominately black names while mentioning pants hanging down. BTW note that Tyrell said he can't get a gun license cause he has a record. It seems one of your white friends took care of that though.
You must step and look at the forest. You're too busy staring at trees. When Atlanta is compared to other major cities it is a bargain in many ways. You think crime is bad here? Obviously you haven't been many places. In 20 years Peachtree Rd will be similar to Park Av in NY. Average lease for an apartment near Central Park is around $3000-6000 per month. I am bullish on Atlanta; aka the new Hollywood.
I do not know you , but I do not understand why you think I have any notion that crime is not any worse in other places. By the way I have traveled the world ,not just the United states (seen all the states but Alaska so far ) . I have seen violent crime take place in Italy, France, Greece ,Kenya ,and from Salt Lake to MIami in the US. I also am not ignorant when it comes to property values, but I know if you can find an apt on Central Park for 3k , rent it . Why do you think I am not bullish on Atlanta? I am for Atlanta and its survival. My concerns are with the racist attitudes of some of the commentary form contributors here .
I forgot : I AM PROUD TO BE A BLACK MAN , PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN .
Ok. I agree that some of the contributors here are spewing racist comments. But I disagree that there should be any restriction or reprimands on freedom of speech. Freedom is why black men need to remain vigilant regardless of present day achievements. There's a thin line between love and hate.
It is a shame that between Metropolis and 905 P' tree were going to be stuck with this uninspired ugliness, similar mid-rise projects would of been better than this, and oh the two projects mentioned, there affordable.
