City of Atlanta government offices, including Parks and Recreation facilities, will open at 10 a.m. on Friday.

The Municipal Court of Atlanta will be closed on Friday. All cases will be rescheduled to a future date. Defendants will be notified of new court date by mail. Defendants whose current address differs from the address listed on their driver's license should contact the court at 404-658-6940 or 404-954-6767, or via email at municourt@atlantaga.gov.

Fulton County Government facilities and offices will open at their normal operating times on Friday.

Courts in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit will also open on Friday at their normal times. The Chief Administrative District Judge, Gail S. Tusan, in conjunction with the Chief State Court Judge, John Mather, have announced that all courts within the Circuit will be open to include Superior, State, Juvenile, Magistrate and Probate Courts.

Citizens and employees are encouraged to use their best judgment and exercise extreme caution when traveling to all Fulton County facilities.

On Thursday, the City of Atlanta announced that emergency operations will continue for the duration of Winter Storm Pax. Essential city employees will continue to work 12-hour rotating shifts while the Joint Operations Center continues to service thousands of residents affected by the inclement weather. Residents are still encouraged to delay traveling until street surfaces are clear.

Over the last 48 hours, city departments answered thousands of service calls for emergency aid, downed trees and power lines, and vehicle accidents.   Latest reports as of early Thursday afternoon include:

  • The City’s 911 center received a total of 5,960 calls;
  • Atlanta Fire Rescue crews have responded to 269 total calls, 121 of them Emergency Medical Service calls, and 32 reports of downed trees;
  • The Atlanta Police Department has responded to 32 vehicle accidents, 30 reports of street hazards, stranded motorists and 23 reports of downed power lines;
  • The Department of Parks and Recreation has responded to 26 reports of downed trees. As of 6 a.m., 175 residents had taken shelter in city recreation facilities that are serving as warming centers:
    • Ben Hill, 10
    • New Adamsville, 28
    • Peachtree Hills, 8
    • Rosel Fann, 30
    • Central, 1
    • Old Adamsville, 98

Additional churches and schools, with the exception of North Atlanta High School, that have been designated as shelters are closing because city recreation facilities are able to meet the demand for shelter.
