City Council to Hold Redistricting Meeting Wednesday

The City Council is providing a public information session about the upcoming redistricting changes to the council district lines.

The Atlanta City Council will host an information session on  6 p.m. Wednesday in the council chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall, 55 Trinity Ave.

The session will give interested citizens an opportunity to learn the "whys and hows" about the required upcoming changes to the 12 Atlanta City Council District boundries, according to a press release from City of Atlanta spokesman Dexter Chambers.

Every decade, after the U.S. Census is completed, state governments, or an independent body, make changes to district lines on all levels of government.

This means, a citizen who lived in one council district last year may live in another district after the boundries have been redrawn and approved.
