City councilmembers have received briefing packets from APS on its school closure and redistricting plans. Wednesday’s joint meeting is being held as a result of continued discussions between city officials and the school board on school redistricting.

“It’s imperative that the city council and board members continue our dialogue as our colleagues on board of education prepare to vote on these recommendations,” said City Council President Ceasar Mitchell in a statement. “Many families and city neighborhoods will be impacted but that impact will be at a minimum.”
