Sewer Tax Supported in City-Produced Video

The Department of Watershed Management says water rates could rise 30 percent if MOST not extended in March 6 election.

The city of Atlanta's Department of Watershed Management has produced a video in support of extending t which funds sewer improvements.

The proposal to extend the sales tax four years is on the March 6 ballot, allong with the Georgia presidential primary. The tax helps fund sewer improvements under a settlement with the federal government.

The city estimates that the water/sewer rates would need to increase by 25- to 30-percent without the sales tax. City residents already pay the highest rates in the country.
