Triple Threat "The Coach" Debuts One Man Show Live at Michon's

Catch Wes Lee Monday night February 11, 2013 during The Prayzefest Gospel Hour LIVE at Michon's 1583 Virginia Ave College Park, GA.

Michael had Quincy Jones, Shaq had Phil Jackson, and Beyonce has Frank Gatson. These super stars knew that they needed to train under these professionalsto help shape them and take their careers into the stratosphere. Atlanta has “Coach Wes Lee”; a triple threat that has over two decades of experience in theentertainment industry.  Wes Lee is known to have a vocal range that Mariah Carey would envy. He has expressed his gift for acting in a wide range of theatrical stage plays and several movie roles. He has sung in studios and on stages in virtually every state of the union and several countries as well. Wes Lee is making a name for himself as "THE COACH." He is a Vocal Coach, an Acting Coach, a Runway Coach, a Fitness Coach and sometimes even a Life Coach. Coach Wes Lee has done it all, from leading praise & worship at his local church to emceeing for events, serving as guest clinician for conferences, and to dance workshops in Japan

I recently sat down to chat with “The Coach” as he prepares for an upcoming showcase that will display all his talents. We talked about why it is time for him to help artists become the best in their craft, who he would love to coach in the industry, and his one man show.

1)You’ve been in the industry for over 20 years and worked with some of the best to ever do it. How did your journey begin? Like most people, I received my initial training in church.  That being the case, God anointed me to teach.  Everything I’ve learned, from there to my years of study at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, to SculpturEssence Dance Studio toTown & Gown Theatre; my training was instrumental in forging the foundation for Coach Wes Lee.

2) Why the name “Coach” Wes Lee?  Easy… My stage name is Wes Lee and coaching is what I do.  It landed by default. With the God-given gift to teach ANYTHING I know how to do, there was no reason to change it.  What sets you apart from the competition? I have the innate ability to view situations, assess them and find the most formidable solutions. The ability to objectively survey specific needs along with a sharp eye for detail and an ear that can hear when even the slightest note is off enables me to be “set apart.”  Not to mention the ability to make all those I work with feel comfortable from the 6 yr old aspiring actors to the 40+ yr old recording artist.

3) How do you prepare for a performance? Really it depends on
what type performance it is.  If it is a concert, I would of course vocalize, do warm-ups, etc.  If it is a play, I would be “in character,”have learned my lines, worked on the idiosyncrasies of that particular character, etc.  What is your method? Those methods vary from performance to performance. I guess one would have to become a student to get those.

 4) Who are your inspirations?  Debbie Allen, Darryl Coley, Vanessa Bell-Armstrong, The Winans; really too many to name.

5) Who are your top 3 performers of today and why? Beyonce – She’s a consummate professional – Always on top of her game – ALWAYS…. Marvin Sapp, Yolanda Adams, and Donnie McClurkin Each always has a solid presentation, full of power and anointing.  Rachelle Ferrell – Every time she opens her mouth, the notes and riffs are flawless.

6) Name us three independent artists who you see
potential in, (who for one reason or another haven’t realized it), that you’d love to work with/transform
.  Immeasurable, Joshua Israel-The Praising1, Liz Yancey

7) How will you display all of your talents at Your Launch Party? I’ll
sing a little, act a little, talk a little, etc.  Are there any surprises in store?  Of
course! But I couldn’t tell you or else it wouldn’t be a surprise.
