MetroFresh Expanding at Midtown Promenade

Popular eatery taking over former Jersey Mike's Subs space

A Midtown dining favorite is expanding.

MetroFresh, a popular destination for health-conscious eaters for the last seven years, is in the process of doubling the size of its space located in the Midtown Promenade shopping center at 931 Monroe Drive.

Restaurant owner and chef Mitchell Anderson told Patch that he plans to take over the recently shuttered Jersey Mike’s Subs space next door to MetroFresh, expanding both the interior and exterior portions of the restaurant.

“The opportunity came up and we jumped,” Anderson said. “We’re very excited.”

Plans are to knock out the wall adjoining the two spaces, which will result in the restaurant’s size doubling to about 2,500 square feet. The size of the kitchen will also increase two-fold to help MetroFresh, which last year opened a second location in Midtown’s Atlanta Botanical Garden, meet the growing demands of its customer base.

MetroFresh offers a healthy alternative to fast-food breakfast with home-cooked varieties. The menu changes daily for lunch and dinner featuring soups, salads and some seriously delicious sandwiches.

Outdoor patio seating will also be expanded as plans call for a 14-seat “communal table” at bar height. Mitchell also intends to redesign the interior in order to make the space more attractive for those seeking a dining spot at night.

A change will occur in the mornings, too. Currently, MetroFresh serves breakfast on weekdays beginning at 7 a.m. Mitchell says that will soon extend to Saturdays with a Sunday brunch, too.

Construction could begin in late November or early December and there could be a period of 10-14 days where the eatery will be closed in order to make the expansion become reality.
