The Atlanta chapter of Ed2010 will host its second of four in a series of speaker sessions aimed at bringing together the student community and real world magazine editors in the local publishing industry. Scheduled for April 10, 2013 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., the event will be held at Hypepotamus, the popular co-working space located in The Biltmore on Tech Square at 817 West Peachtree Street.
The first session featuring Sue Collins, editor of BuckHaven Lifestyle Magazine, launched the series on January 9th. The event was attended by many freelancers, students and writers representing the local publishing community. Sue shared with guests her experience working as an editor, her magazine experience and also pointers on pitching to magazines. Frannie's Gluten Free provided healthy muffins to snack on for the evening. Speakers for the remaining three sessions are yet to be decided, nominations are welcome.
The Atlanta chapter of Ed2010 was established January 2012 by Ruksana Hussain, a metro area freelancer who works in different capacities at several local print and online publications. Ed2010 is a community of young magazine editors and magazine-editor wannabes who want to learn more about the industry and how to land top editing and writing positions. Originally established in New York, the group now has chapters across the USA and Canada.
