Are New APS Redistricting Plans Good for Midtown?

Demographers' reports to be presented at public meetings next week. Share your thoughts on the two new options.

The Atlanta public school system released its two redistricting options late Friday afternoon.

A series of public hearings will be held next week at different locations in metro Atlanta, including at 6:30 p.m. at Jackson High School.

Some local residents were relieved in seeing the proposals, especially parents of students who attend and .

Students from Midtown, Poncey-Highland, Virginia-Highland and Morningside will remain in the cluster and will attend and Grady High, according to the two proposals.

"I am cautiously optimistic," Springdale Park parent Nicole Foerschler Horn said. "I’m concerned that there’s not a SPARK expansion in these options and that one of the proposals continues to promote the split primary model for our adjacent neighborhood."
