Free Tour of So/No Midtown Commercial District
Meet in front of the Georgian Terrace to tour Atlanta’s first commercial district built north of Downtown. Witness how Atlanta's Midtown architecture developed from Queen Anne period styles to Art Deco to New Formalism. Learn about the businessmen, architects and prominent families who built Midtown. You will hear how celebrities from Margaret Mitchell to Julia Roberts and of certain Midtown oddities such as Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie's throne and Japanese Zero war planes influenced the area.
The tour lasts about 90 minutes and involves nearly 1-1 ½ miles of walking so wear comfortable walking shoes. No reservations required. The tour may be canceled due to inclement weather.
