Buy Tech-UGA hoops tickets, get equal amount of tickets to December games free

Winners of four of their first five games, the Yellow Jackets return home next week to face rival Georgia to begin a seven-game stand at the McCamish Pavilion.

The Georgia Tech football team laid an egg at rival Georgia over the weekend, but the Yellow Jackets’ hoops squad will have the opportunity to even the score for the school next week when Tech plays host to the Bulldogs at the brand new McCamish Pavilion.

Winners of just 11 games a year ago, the Jackets are almost halfway to their 2011-12 win total following Sunday’s 65-56 win over Saint Mary's (Cal) in the third place game of the DirecTV Classic in Anaheim, Calif.

Tech is now 4-1 entering Wednesday’s game at Illinois in a 9 p.m. contest that will be televised on ESPN2. After that, coach Brian Gregory’s team will return to Atlanta to begin a seven-game homestand starting with a Dec. 4 game against the Bulldogs.

Speaking of college hoops, Atlanta is serving as the host city the 2013 NCAA Men’s Final Four, which will take place at the Georgia Dome in April. And, the Division II and III championships will be staged at Philips Arena here in Atlanta, too.

In order to make Final Four weekend a true success, the Atlanta Local Organizing Committee (ALOC) is seeking more than 2,000 volunteers to help with everything from greeting guests at Atlanta hotels to assisting with youth and community events that are expected to draw thousands of locals and visitors from April 5-8, 2013.

Online volunteer registration can be found here. Potential volunteers will find all of the opportunities listed there with descriptions, photos from previous Final Four tournaments and videos.

Volunteers need to commit to at least three shifts ranging from three to five hours each and the NCAA requires volunteer background checks. Each volunteer also will need to attend an orientation in March prior to the Final Four.
