Atlanta Streets Alive

The Atlanta Streets Alive will connect the Virginia-Highland, Atkins Park, Poncey-Highland, Inman Park and Old Fourth Ward neighborhoods through a bike ride and street festival. While the past four Atlanta Streets Alive events have attracted around 3,400 people, this year the goal is to attract 10,000 people. Local residents can expect a blend of outdoor activities such as cycling, rollerblading, skateboarding, hula-hooping, yoga, kickboxing, and bootcamps to more cultural activities such as “theatre on the move”, various a cappella groups, marching bands, choirs and bicycle art.

The event does not host an artist/vendor market or alcoholic beverages because its mission involves celebrating the neighborhoods and the local businesses and restaurants, as well as promoting healthy choices and activities for attendees. The event is free and open to all.

The 2 mile bike route goes from Virginia Ave @Murphy’s to Corley St @Highland Bakery in Old Fourth Ward.  The route was chosen because of its extraordinary bicycle crash rate, the second highest next to Ponce de Leon.  This event is not all about biking. Attendees are encouraged to participate in healthy activities of all kinds, from super active to educational.
