Celebrity Cook Off Results: Herschel Walker Eats Up the Competition

Former Georgia Bulldogs running back Herschel Walker stiff-armed celebrities Tiffany, Penn Teller and "Brady Bunch" mom Florence Henderson in a Food Network cooking show.

Herschel Walker may be best known as the speedy running back who won the 1982 Heisman Trophy while playing at the University of Georgia, but he can also whip up a mean shrimp with grits and peach cobbler.

The retired Dallas Cowboys star beat other celebrities this week on the reality show “Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook Off” on the Food Network. Walker donated his $50,000 prize to Patriot Support, a charity that provides mental health services to troops and their families.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Walker’s Southern-flavored cooked wowed the judges. He won out over magician Penn Jillette, “Brady Bunch” actress Florence Henderson and ‘80s singer Tiffany.

“I knew I could compete, but I didn’t know if I could compete cooking and I did,” Walker told the newspaper. “Sort of like when I won the Heisman Trophy, a big smile comes over your face. That is awesome!”

Walker was part of Guy Fieri’s team. His final challenge meal consisted of shrimp and grits, southern-style chicken and peach cobbler, the newspaper said. “This is restaurant quality food,” said one of the judges.

As a result of his win, Walker says he might pitch a Food Network show focused on Southern cooking that he would star in.
