U.S. tennis champions Andy Roddick and Jack Sock will be among the players at a major tennis tournament arriving at Atlantic Station in 2012.

The Atlanta Tennis Championships, an ATP World Tour event, will take place from July 14 through 22, 2012, on temporary courts installed at the Midtown mixed-use complex.

It's a new venue for the men's tournament, that despite its name, was played in Norcross last year. Those matches attracted some 72,000 spectators, by the organizer's count. The fans watched top players fight for more than one half-million dollars in prize money.

"This event brings a significant economic impact to Midtown Atlanta," said Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed in a written statement.

The center hard court will seat 4,000 people and will be placed in Atlantic Station's Central Park, by Rosa Mexacano restaurant. Two other competition courts will be set up between Atlantic Station and Interstates 75 and 85.
